Tom Bowen begins his third season as an assistant coach with the Adelphi University men's soccer team in 2021.
In his inaugural year with the Panthers, Bowen's coaching tactics were instrumental in helping lead the team to its first-ever No. 1 national ranking and the No. 1 overall seed in Super Region I in the NCAA Tournament. Adelphi reeled off a 15-game unbeaten streak to open the season and -- ultimately -- won an NE10 regular-season title, behind a 15-3-1 overall record and a 10-1-1 regular-season conference finish.
At the season's conclusion, Bowen was recognized -- along with his fellow Adelphi men's soccer coaches -- as the United Soccer Coaches East Region Staff of the Year
Bowen spent the 2018 campaign at Division I program Seton Hall University, as an assistant coach under Andreas Lindberg, after spending two years on his staff at LIU Post in 2016 and 2017. In two seasons with the Pioneers, the program posted an overall record of 36-2-3, winning back-to-back East Coast Conference titles and advancing to the NCAA Third Round.
He began his coaching career after a standout playing tenure on the pitch, starring for the Pioneers under Lindberg from 2013-15. In 60 career games, he had seven goals and five assists for 19 points. Bowen was named to the All-ECC First Team in 2015. He also helped the Green and Gold to a pair of ECC titles (2013 & 2015) and two NCAA Division II East Region Championships in 2014 and 2015.
Bowen currently serves as the head coach of the Long Island Rough Riders USL-2 men's team and also acts as the Boys Technical Director for Long Island Rough Riders' youth teams.
A native of Aberdovey, Wales in the United Kingdom, Bowen graduated from Cardiff Metropolitan University in Wales, with a bachelor's in Sport & Exercise Science, before earning his MBA from LIU Post in 2016.
