Matt Giaconelli is in his second season as an assistant coach for the Adelphi men's soccer program in 2019.
The native of Franklin Square, N.Y. comes off a four-year career for the Panthers on the field, which culminated in an NE10 All-Conference third-team selection in 2017. He appeared in 72 games for the Brown and Gold over four seasons in the midfield, and helped Adelphi to several milestones over that time.
He was a member of the Panthers' first NE10 Championship team in 2016, and a part of three teams who competed in the NCAA Tournament, including an East Region title-winning squad in 2016.
In that 2016 season, Giaconelli and the Panthers were the second-ranked defense in the country, holding opposing teams to just 11 goals scored on the season. He also helped to limit opponents to a 1.02 goals-against average in 2017.
Giaconelli received his bachelor's degree in Accounting from Adelphi in May 2018, and is currently pursuing his MBA at Adelphi.
