A three-time Colonial Athletic Association Tournament champion at Hofstra, Eric Schmidt enters his second year as an assistant coach with the Adelphi University men's soccer team in 2022.

Schmidt has held a plethora of coaching titles since graduating from Hofstra with his degree in Physical Education in December 2010.

He remains the head coach and Director of Futsal at the Long Island Soccer Club -- a pair of positions he has maintained since 2020.

Schmidt spent three years (2018-20) as the Director of Futsal at The Players Futsal Academy and held coaching stints with the FC Albertson Fury, the New York State Olympic Development Program, the Long Island Junior Select Olympic Program and at MacArthur High School.

Between 2004-07, Schmidt was a starting midfielder at Hofstra, where he was an integral part of one of the most successful stretches in the Pride's history. A stretch that included three consecutive CAA Championships and NCAA Tournament berths.

Before college, Schmidt was an All-Conference player at Massapequa High School, helping the Chiefs to a runner-up finish in the Long Island Championships as a sophomore. In 2002, he guided his Eastern New York State club team to a regional championship, and qualified as a pool player for the United States National team.

Schmidt holds an advanced national license from the United Soccer Coaches organization and earned his Physical Education certification in January 2021.
