Alex Varkatzas joins the men's soccer team for his first season as an assistant coach in 2018.

Varkatzas joined the Panthers as a graduate student for the 2017 season after completing his undergraduate degree at Binghamton, where he appeared in 63 games across four seasons, while red-shirting as a senior.

In his one year as a Panther, Varkatzas started 16 games and appeared in two more off the bench, and scored five goals and dished out three assists. He tied for third on the team in points with 13, scored six goals in Adelphi's first eight games and helped the Panthers to a Northeast-10 Conference regular season title and an appearance in the last 16 of the NCAA Tournament. 

Before BU, Varkatzas scored a team-record 29 goals in 2012 at Elmira Free Academy and was honored as a Third-Team All-State selection his senior year. 

A native of Elmira, N.Y., Varkatzas earned a dual degree in English and psychology at Binghamton, and earned his MBA at Adelphi.
