2009: Red shirt season while serving in Iraq with the 2nd Battalion 25th Marine Regiment out of Garden City, New York.
2008: Appeared in five games...picked up five ground balls...recorded his first collegiate ground ball in a 21-8 win over Mars Hill (3/11).

At Smithtown High School: Played two years of varsity lacrosse and wrestling...all-league wrestler senior year.
Personal: Son of John and Kerry Benson...has two younger siblings, Jackie and Patrick.
