Matt Schomburg is entering his first year as an assistant coach with the Adelphi men's lacrosse team. Schomburg was a four-year letter winner for the Panthers and is now making the transition from the playing field to the coaching box. Schomburg matriculated at Adelphi in 1994, winning a National title in 1995. In 1996 Schomburg continued his stellar play for the Panthers, leading the team in assists and earning first team All-America honors. After a seven-year absence due to family illness Schomburg returned to Garden City in 2003 and had an immediate impact. Schomburg was named honorable mention All-America as well as a second-team ECAC all-star and a first-team All-NYCAC performer. In 2004 Schomburg continued his strong play, leading the Panthers in assists and registers a plus 60 percent win percentage in face-offs for the third time in his career. Schomburg finished his playing career in ninth place on Adelphi's career assists list with 75. In addition to his collegiate playing experience represented his home country of Australia in the World Championships in 1992, 1994, 1998 and captained the team in 2002. Schomburg graduated from Adelphi with a degree in sports management and is currently pursuing a master degree in sports management. Schomburg resides in Hempstead, N.Y. and will be responsible for coordinating the offense and coaching the face-off men. To reach Coach Schomburg
