Serge Clement is entering his second season as an assistant coach with the Adelphi University men’s basketball team. His primary duties will include recruiting, working with the guards and the running of practices.
Additionally, as an Assistant Coach, Clement was the Camp Director for Adelphi's Boy's Basketball Camp in the summer of 2012 after serving as the Assistant Director in the summer prior. He was also in charge of the Boy's Developmental Clinic held in October.
He has also been a member of the coaching staff at the Reebok Challenge Basketball Camp at Philadelphia University for top-120 players in the country. Additionally, he was also on staff at basketball camps at Duke University, Siena College, St. John's University, Potsdam State and Cortland State among others.
Clement comes to Adelphi after spending the past two years as an assistant coach with the SUNY Cortland basketball program. During his time in Cortland Clement was responsible for the play of the guards, recruiting, scouting and academic monitoring of the student-athletes.
In addition to his work at SUNY Cortland, Clement has an impressive work log at camps, including acting as an assistant camp director for the SUNY Cortland Sports Camps. Clement has coached at the Hoop Group Skills and Elite Camps, which produce some of the nation’s top recruits and provides individual instruction to further their skills. Other camps Serge has coached at include St. John’s University, SUNY Potsdam and the prestigious Five Star Basketball Camp.
As a player, Clement started his career at Hostos Community College, where he was instrumental in the program’s success. He then moved on to Elmira College, before finishing up his collegiate career at SUNY Potsdam. While at Potsdam, Clement was named to the NABC Academic Honor Roll and was twice ranked among the top five in the SUNAYAC in three-point field goal percentage.
Clement spent his high school playing days at Saint John’s Preparatory in Astoria, where he was a two-year member of the varsity basketball team and was twice named All-Division. He was also a second-team All-Queens honoree and an honorable mention All-City selection.
Clement left Potsdam in 2009 with a degree in business economics and earned a master’s degree in sport management/administration from Cortland in 2011. He currently resides in Queens, New York.
