Matt Weinman starts year one in 2014-15 as a member of the Adelphi University men’s basketball coaching staff. His responsibilities will include academic coordinating, player skill development, player character development, as well as campus and community relations.
Weinman has spent the last five seasons as a high school basketball coach on Long Island, the first two on the junior varsity level followed by three years as a varsity coach.
Previously, Weinman was a graduate assistant on the Hofstra men’s basketball staff from May 2006 through August 2008. As a graduate assistant, he acted as an academic coordinator, coordinated film exchange and video scouting as well as in-season and offseason player development. Additionally, he worked alongside current Adelphi head coach, David Duke.
During his tenure, he earned a master’s degree in physical education from Hofstra. Weinman earned his undergraduate degree from West Virginia University in 2006, majoring in physical education and minoring in health education.
Weinman has been a physical education teacher at P.S. 46 in Bayside since 2008. He currently resides in Astoria with his wife Cara. Furthermore, he is the grandson of legendary football coach Jim Weinman, who started the Nassau Community College football program and built the program to a national powerhouse.
