Jim Pitman, now in his fourth season, returned for his second stint with the Adelphi's men's basketball program in 2002. His primary duties include scouting and recruiting as well as game day preparation. Pitman served as an assistant with the Panthers from 1988-92. He has also been an assistant at NYIT, Stony Brook and SUNY-Farmingdale and coached two summers as an assistant in the professional ranks with the Long Island Surf of the USBL. He earned his Bachelor's in history from Kentucky Wesleyan College in 1980 and in 1985 obtained his Master's in physical education from Adelphi. Pitman currently teaches physical education at John Adams High School in Queens. He also serves as the Head varsity boys basketball coach. In the summers, he is an administrator at Eastern Invitational Basketball Clinic. Pitman currently resides with wife, Leeann, in Freeport, N.Y.
