Biography

Suzette McQueen is beginning her ninth year as the Assistant Athletic Director of External Affairs at Adelphi University. She oversees the dissemination of information for all of Adelphi[apos]s 22 intercollegiate sports, including media guides, statistics, press releases and website maintenance as well as live webstreaming of home events. An athletic department liaison, she works closely with Public Affairs, Alumni Relations and the Development office. In January of 2009, she added Senior Woman Administrator reponsibilities to her title. In addition, she assists the Event Management Department on game day operations and oversees several special projects including the Annual Black History Month Celebration and the Athletic Hall of Fame. McQueen is also a major part of the Panther Club, which helps with fund-raising for athletics. As the Executive Director, her duties include membership additions and renewals, Panther Club events and meetings. Also involved in organizations on campus, McQueen is on the steering committee for the Adelphi Multicultural Alumni Chapter as well as on the Diversity Task Force and the Panther Club Executive board. Off campus, she served on the NCAA Division II Nominating Committee and was also a member of the National Association of Collegiate Women Athletic Administrators (NACWAA) membership committee. McQueen graduated with a Master[apos]s in Sport Administration from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill in May 2001. While at Carolina, she interned in the Sports Information Office and was the primary contact for women[apos]s volleyball and men[apos]s and women[apos]s cross country/track & field. A 1992 graduate of the University of Michigan, she obtained a BS in Communications. McQueen was a four year varsity letterwinner for the women[apos]s track team, earning All-Big Ten honors in the 100 hurdles. She is currently a member of the College Sports Information Director[apos]s Association of America (CoSida), the National Association of Athletic Development Directors (NAADD), Minority Opportunties Athletic Administration (MOAA) and NACWAA. McQueen resides in Hempstead, N.Y. with her husband, Kevin, daughter, Sedona and son, Kyle.
