Adelphi University Athletics

Charlie Viana is entering his second year as a graduate assistant in the Office of Athletic Media Relations. His primary sports are field hockey, women[apos]s soccer, women[apos]s basketball, baseball, men[apos]s lacrosse and tennis. Viana is a 2008 graduate of Johnson State College, where he was a four-year member of the men[apos]s basketball team, including being named captain his final two seasons. In addition, Viana earned the Richard E. Andersen Award as a senior and was the Johnson State Male Athlete of the Year in the same season. He is also third on the program[apos]s all-time scoring list with 1,674 and was a first-team all-conference selection in 2008. Upon completing his degree he spent a year as a sports information intern at St. Michael[apos]s College in Vermont. His primary duties were acting at the media contact for men[apos]s and womem[apos]s ice hockey, designing and editing media guides and producing game stories and feature stories. Viana also assisted in the game day operations of every sport at St. Michael[apos]s. Viana will graduate from Adelphi in December of 2010 with a Master[apos]s Degree in sports management and currently resides in Valley Stream, N.Y.
