Jessica Rea

Jessica (Caruana) Rea enters her fourth season on the sidelines with Adelphi University field hockey as an assistant coach in the fall of 2021.

Her primary responsibilities include all aspects of planning and preparation of practice and game day strategy, primarily on coaching the defensive aspects of the game and training the goalkeepers.

A Holbrook, N.Y. native, Rea spent four seasons playing field hockey at Division III SUNY New Paltz from 2012-15. There, she helped the team to four consecutive SUNYAC Conference Championships as well as four NCAA Tournament berths. Over the course of her career with the Hawks, she was named SUNYAC Defensive Player of the Year and earned Synapse Sports Third Team All-American status as a senior. Additionally, Rea added Longstreth/NFHCA All-American honors to her resume and was chosen to compete at the Division III Senior All-Star game.

In 83 career contests in the Blue and Orange, Rea started in 82, scoring 29 goals and adding 30 assists for 88 points. She notched eight game-winners and was 10-for-16 in penalty shots.

Her field hockey background is extensive, stemming to her membership with USA Field Hockey in which she was given multiple coaching stints with local travel teams in the tri-state area. Most recently, she served as assistant coach for the varsity team at Comsewogue High School. Outside of the sport, she's also worked as a community instructor and direct support professional at the Developmental Disabilities Institute in Smithtown, N.Y.
