Ayden Fleming enters her first season as an assistant coach with the Adelphi University field hockey program in 2026 under first-year head coach Margaret Maclean.
Fleming arrives in Garden City following her time at SUNY New Paltz, where she gained coaching experience as a volunteer assistant coach during the 2024-25 and 2025-26 seasons. After an injury sidelined her from competition, Fleming transitioned into a coaching role with the Hawks, assisting with the planning and execution of practices, individual player development and game-day preparation.Â
In her role at New Paltz, Fleming helped conduct practices focused on technical skill development, tactical awareness, conditioning and team fundamentals. She also provided individualized instruction and feedback to student-athletes while assisting the coaching staff in creating a competitive and inclusive environment centered around player development.Â
Fleming also brings experience coaching at the club level on Long Island. She served as a U19 travel coach with Long Island Field Hockey from 2023-24, where she created drills and practice plans, conducted practices twice a week and traveled with the team for competitions across the East Coast.Â
Prior to her U19 coaching experience, Fleming worked with the Long Island Field Hockey Disability Inclusive Program from 2022-23. In that role, she worked with children and adults of all ages, organizing drills and games while teaching participants the sport. Fleming also helped showcase the program to USA Field Hockey at the ESPN center in Orlando.Â
As a student-athlete, Fleming competed as a forward for the SUNY New Paltz field hockey program before moving into her volunteer coaching role. She graduated from New Paltz in May 2026 with an undergraduate degree in Adolescent Education.Â
Away from the field, Fleming gained additional experience within collegiate athletics as an athletics communications intern and member of the athletic event staff at New Paltz. As an intern, she worked in photography, graphic design and journalism, including creating game-day social media content and writing post-game recaps. She also assisted with event operations, live statistics, official scoring and game-day logistics as a member of the event staff.
