Honors and Awards: All-East Region, Northeast-10 All-Conference (2011)...First Team All-ECC, ECC Rookie of the Week (9/8, 10/6) (2008).

2011: Competed in five races and placed in the top-26 in each of them...was the Panther's second runner all year long...earned All-Conference honors at the NE-10 Championship (10/22) meet with a personal best of 25:16 and finishing in 23rd place...earned a spot on the All-East Region First Team with a seventh place showing at the Regional meet (11/6) in a personal best of 31:53 over 10k.

2010: Competed in seven meets and placed in the top-65 in five of them including a ninth place finish at the Hofstra meet (9/11)...raced to a personal best of 26:48 over 8k at the Albany Invitational (10/16)...placed 51st at the NE-10 Conference Championship.

2009: Competed in all six races for Adelphi, never placing outside the top-40...was Adelphi's second finisher at the NCAA regional, placing 20th overall in a personal best 10K time of 32:45...placed fourth at the Hofstra Invitational in a time of 15:55 and set a new 8K personal best at the Paul Short run, covering the 8K course in 25:49.

2008: Was the team's top freshman...placed in the top-50 six out of the seven races including a fourth place finish at the Hofstra Invitational and a third place finish at the conference meet...set a personal best at the Albany Invitational (10/18) with a time of 26:04...was the Panther's second runner across the line at the regional meet.

At Monsignor McClancy High School: Ran cross country and track and field for four years...a two time Brooklyn-Queens cross country champion, two time state xc qualifier, three time outdoor B/Q two mile champion...B/Q indoor 3200m and 1600m champion and state qualifier...placed fourth at Eastern States and ninth at the National Scholastic Indoor Championships...received the Student Athlete Award...part of the Film Club, Photo Club and Choir.

Personal: Son of Miguel and Lilia Ortega...enjoys skateboarding, reading and cooking...major is currently undecided.
