Biography

2003: Appeared in 24 games for Adelphi...hit .256 including 10 runs batted in...second on the team with 114 put-outs.

2002: Named captain as a sophomore... batted .310 with a .993 fielding percentage...sustained injury in preseason missed eight games due to broken hand...came back to start in the next 35 straight helping the Panthers reach a playoff berth. Had impressive performances against St. Rose, Merrimack...ten multi-hit games, and 18 RBI...Played in the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League this past summer for the Long Island Collegians under General Manager Bob Hirschfield.

2001: Established himself as Adelphi[apos]s starting catcher as a freshman...batted .305 while posting an impressive .996 fielding percentage...named Adelphi[apos]s Freshman Male Athlete of the Year...named NYCAC Rookie of the Week after batting .500 on the week (3/26) 8 multiple hit games...went 3-4 with 2 double and 3 RBI vs. Philadelphia University (3/24)...went 2-4 with a double, home run and 3 RBI vs. Mercy (4/13)...started in 40 straight games as catcher.

At Happauge: Two-year varsity captain...1999 Bronze Medallist on Empire State team...All-League in 1999 and 2000...2000 Suffolk County Gold glove winner...Captain of the Suffolk County Championship team in 1999 and 2000. Recipient of the [quote]Record Breaker[quote] Award for throwing out 21 of 30 base runners in his junior year. Recipient of the [quote]Team First Leadership Award[quote] for being captain in his junior and senior years. Named [quote]Player to Watch[quote] by Newsday in his senior year. Was invited for try-outs with the New York Mets in 1999 and 2000, and the Cleveland Indians in 2001.

Personal: Son of Gerry and Kathy Joyce, has one brother named Chris...born January 30, 1982...a sports management major...currently employed with the New York Baseball Academy under director Bob Hirschfield. Joyce[apos]s father played Ice Hockey at St. John[apos]s University; and his grandfather played Triple A for the Pittsburgh Pirates...hobbies include ice hockey, football, skiing, boating, going to the beach, and golf....his favorite teams are the NY Mets and the NY Jets...his favorite athlete is Gary Carter...plans to become a college baseball coach.
