Rob Cafiero

Since 2010, Cafiero has served as the manager of the Southampton Breakers in the Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League. He has guided the Breakers to four Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League Championships. Cafiero has coached over 40 players who have been selected in the Major League Baseball Draft. Seven of those players have made it to the major leagues, with four currently active on major league rosters.

Cafiero started his coaching career as the bench coach for the Long Island Ducks in 2008 and as manager for the 2009 Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League champion Westhampton Aviators. Cafiero was the hitting coach at St Joseph’s College (LI) from 2009-13, before a two-year stint (2013-14) at Hofstra. Cafiero then served as the hitting coach for the LIU Post Pioneers, under Coach Gaffney from 2016-19.

Drafted in the 32nd round by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 2002 MLB First Year Player Draft, Cafiero went on to play seven years of professional baseball. Cafiero led the Philadelphia Phillies minor league system in doubles, home runs and RBI in the 2002 season. He later played for the Pennsylvania Road Warriors and Long Island Ducks of the Atlantic League.

Cafiero was the starting first baseman for four years (1999-2002) at Villanova University, earning All-America honors from Baseball America and Freshman All-America accolades from Louisville Slugger in 1999. A Big East All-Rookie Team selection, Cafiero led the conference with 72 RBI as a freshman. He would also earn All-Big East honors following his senior season and graduated as the Wildcats' all-time leader in RBIs (196), doubles (61) and games played (202). Additionally, Cafiero ranks sixth all-time in RBIs (88) and 16th in home runs (18) in Big East Conference games. His four-year career batting average at Villanova was .335. In 2018, Villanova inducted Cafiero into its athletics Hall of Fame, recognizing his outstanding collegiate career.

Cafiero's brother, Chris, graduated from Adelphi and was a member of the 1996, 1997 and 1999 World Series teams.

A native of Massapequa Park, Cafiero also owns and operates Hitter's Club, an indoor baseball facility in Massapequa. He is a 2002 graduate of Villanova with a bachelor's degree in Business Management from the College of Commerce and Finance.
