Alex Trezza is entering his first season as a member of the Adelphi baseball coaching staff and will help the Panthers as a hitting coach and with game and practice management as well as recruiting.
Trezza comes to the Adelphi baseball program with 10 years of professional baseball experience and four years of coaching experience. He was a three-year member of Stony Brook's baseball team, earning Division I All-America honors in 2001. Trezza was also Freshman of The Year and the New York State Baseball Conference Player of the Year while at Stony Brook and still holds many school records including single season home runs (23), career home runs (55), and RBI (176).
Professionally, Trezza has spent time with both the Detroit Tigers and the Colorado Rockies. A 18th round draft pick of the Tigers in 2001, Trezza played four years in the Detroit organization, earning the Most Improved Player Award in 2003. He signed with the Rockies as a free agent in 2006 and participated in spring training. He also spent time with the Worcester Tornadoes and the North Shore Spirit of the Canam League, leading the league in home runs (19) in 2006.
Trezza spent last season as the assistant coach at Anna Maria College, where he worked with the hitters, position players and pitchers. He helped guide the AMCATS to a program record 21 wins and to postseason berths in both the TCCC Conference and the ECAC Championships.
