At Duquesne University: Played three seasons of baseball for the Division I Dukes before the program was disbanded ... played as both a shortstop and a pitcher ... as a freshman, appeared in 10 games on the mound with one start, posting a 6.75 ERA in 24 innings of work, and also played 11 games in the field while batting .222 over 27 at-bats ... during his final season, batted .258 over 32 games with 23 hits, three doubles, a homer and 10 RBI, and made 11 appearances on the mound for a 7.00 ERA with 17 strikeouts over 18 innings ... also played for the Westhampton Aviators of the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League during the summer of 2010, during which he posted a 2-2 record with a 3.20 ERA in 45 innings, earning him the team's Americo Pellechia MVP award.
