Truhlarova Finishes Second as Women's Golf Opens Season at Vulcan Invitational

Belle Vernon, Pa. - The Adelphi women's golf team opened its 2026-27 campaign with a third-place finish at the Vulcan Invitational on Friday afternoon at Cedarbrook Golf Course. Nikola Truhlarova led the way for the Panthers, finishing second overall at five-over.

As a team, the Brown and Gold shot 69-over. After shooting 39-over collectively in the opening round, they improved by nine strokes (+30) on day two. Adelphi finished 21 strokes behind second-place Jefferson and five strokes ahead of fourth-place Wheeling.

Truhlarova picked up right where she left off last season, leading the Panthers with back-to-back strong rounds. The sophomore opened the tournament shooting a two-over (73), highlighted by birdies on the third and fifth holes. She followed it up with a three-over (74) in round two, carding three birdies leading to a runner-up finish.

Joining Truhlarova in the top 10 was Filippa Schulze Doering, who tied for sixth at nine-over. The senior carded a five-over (76) in the opening round, which included birdies on holes eight and 10. She improved by one stroke in the second round, shooting a four-over (75) while mixing in a pair of birdies.

Jenny Kim finished tied for 29th at 27-over after making a strong improvement in the second round. Following an opening-round 89 (+18), Kim bounced back with a 9-over (80). Her second round featured back-to-back birdies on holes four and five.

Elimelise Ferris and Adaline Ochoa rounded out the Adelphi lineup, each finishing tied for 39th at 32-over. Ferris improved by four strokes between rounds, shooting an 89 (+18) followed by an 85 (+14). Ochoa opened with an 85 (+14) before carding an 89 (+18) in the second round. She recorded a birdie in each round.

Head coach Bill Bresnan and the Panthers return to action on Monday, Sept. 14, when they travel to Berkleigh Golf Club for the Millersville Women's Fall Classic. The two-day tournament concludes on Tuesday, Sept. 15.
