Goodrich Scores Brace But Women's Soccer Falls to Franklin Pierce

Worcester, Mass. – Head coach Brooke DeRosa and the Adelphi women's soccer team hosted No. 13 Franklin Pierce on Wednesday afternoon in a highly anticipated Northeast 10 contest.

Series History:

  • Adelphi (4-2-1, 1-1-0 NE10) moves to 7-12-4 against Franklin Pierce since November 2002. The Ravens hold a three-game winning streak dating back to the 2024 NE10 final.

Highlights:

How It Happened:

  • Both teams looked to gain an early offensive advantage, and it was Franklin Pierce who got on the board first.
  • After a set piece, an Adelphi clearance put the ball near midfield. The Ravens were able to send it back toward the net and, after two nice passes, beat Catalanotti for an early 1-0 lead.
  • Emma Raptis and Goodrich each had good chances at goal, but the shots sailed just high.
  • Catalanotti made a pair of saves, but Franklin Pierce scored its second goal in the 30th minute.
  • Down 2-0 at the half, the Panthers shuffled their lineup to try and spark the offense.
  • Goodrich and Carmen Reinerink tested the Ravens keeper early, but to no avail.
  • Franklin Pierce went up three in the 60th minute after a Raven collided with Catalanotti and set the ball free after she made a save.
  • Although the road team controlled possession, the Panthers continued to push and, in the 76th minute, got on the board.
  • Meservy played a ball to Caviness, who sent a perfect cross to Goodrich inside the box. The senior beat the keeper for her 10th goal of the season, cutting the Panther deficit.
  • Adelphi had a few more chances and, with a minute remaining, was within one.
  • Raptis swung in a corner that Reinerink kept in the box, and it once again fell to Goodrich, who buried it in the back of the net.
  • Adelphi had one last chance, but time was not on the Panthers' side as they fell 3-2.
