Colchester, Vt. — Head coach Rebecca Fakas and the Adelphi men's tennis team continued conference play on Saturday afternoon when they took on Saint Michael's.
In doubles play, Leo Silverston and Tom LaCharme put pressure on the home team with a 6-2 win in the No. 3 flight, but the Purple Knights came back with a 6-4 victory in the No. 2 match to even things up. A battle unfolded for the first point of the day and it ultimately went to the Panthers after Andrea Albiero and Christian Cappuccini pulled out a 7-5 win.
Saint Michael's tied the match after a win in the No. 3 flight, but it would be the only point for the home team as the Panthers won the next five singles matches.
Christian Cappuccini was dominant as Adelphi's No. 1, winning 6-2, 6-2.
Leo Silverston earned his first win at No. 3, a 6-0, 6-2 victory.
Pau Valles won 7-5, 6-0 and Arturo Beitman won his season debut 6-4, 6-1 at No. 6. Andrea Albiero fell in his first set, 2-6, won 6-3 in the second set and went on to win 3-0 in the final set by default.
The Adelphi men's tennis team will be back on the court on Wednesday when they travel to play Division I Monmouth.
