Millersville, Pa. - The Adelphi University women's golf team claimed first place at the Millersville Women's Fall Classic on Tuesday at Berkleigh Golf Club, in just the second tournament of the season.
Leading the way was Nikola Truhlarova, whose runner-up finish paced the Panthers, while two other Adelphi golfers finished inside the top-10.
The Brown and Gold finished at +60 as a team, besting second-place Kutztown by four strokes. The next closest team was Millersville at 77-over. The Panthers opened the tournament with a combined +36 in round one before improving by 12 strokes with a +24 performance in round two to secure the team title.
Truhlarova picked up right where she left off in the season opener, finishing as the runner-up for the second straight tournament. The sophomore fired an +8 (80) in round one before carding a +1 (73) over her final 18 holes at Berkleigh Golf Club. Her final-round 73 marked a new career best and featured four birdies, bringing her tournament total to seven.
Filippa Schulze Doering ended the tournament tied for seventh overall at +15. After shooting +10 on day one, the senior shaved five strokes off her score, carding a +5 in round two. Schulze Doering tallied three birdies, all of which came during her final 18 holes.
Ivory Drusch finished tied for 10th overall in her season debut. Finishing the tournament at +17, she shot a +10 (82) in the opening round before improving with a +7 (79) in round two. Drusch made par 20 times over her 36 holes of play.
Jenny Kim tied for 16th on the leaderboard at +22 for the tournament. She navigated Berkleigh Golf Club with consistency, carding a +11 (83) in both rounds while recording two birdies.
Ellie Ferris notched a top-25 finish for the Panthers, placing 23rd overall. The junior tallied a new career-best round on day one, carding an +8 (80) that featured a birdie and nine pars.
Head coach Bill Bresnan and the Panthers return to the course on Wednesday (Sept. 23) to compete in the Thomas Jefferson University Fall Invitational at Jeffersonville Golf Club in Norristown, Pa.
