Garden City, N.Y. – The Adelphi University softball team split a doubleheader against Franklin Pierce University on Saturday afternoon, clinching the number two seed for the upcoming Northeast 10 conference championships, as Tori Parente's eighth-inning walk-off lifted the Panthers to a game one victory.
Series History:
- Franklin Pierce led the season series, 2-0 heading into today.
- Prior to today's doubleheader, the programs had faced off 24 times dating back to the 2008 season.

Game One: Adelphi 5, Franklin Pierce 4 (F/8)

How it Happened:
- Franklin Pierce got on the board first, using a two-out single followed by a double to take the early lead.
- After both teams' starters settled in, the Cats broke through with a four-run inning in the bottom of the fifth. Following two Ravens errors, Parente drew a walk, and Priest cleared the bases with a triple off the left field wall. Wright then lifted a sacrifice fly to right, giving Adelphi a 4-1 advantage.
- In the top of the sixth, FPU cut into the deficit. A pair of walks and two singles trimmed the lead to one. The Ravens then tied the game in the seventh, using another two-out rally capped by an RBI double.
- Plue worked a 1-2-3 top of the eighth, giving the Cats an opportunity to walk it off.
- In the bottom of the eighth, Maddy Moore reached on a leadoff walk, and Emily Wolfe entered as a pinch runner. Wolfe advanced on a single by Makayla Comer, setting the stage for Parente.
- The Junior then delivered the heroics, scorching a ball over the center fielder's head, scoring Wolfe, as the Panthers stormed the field in celebration.
Game Two: Franklin Pierce 5, Adelphi 1
Highlights:
- Comer went 2-for-3 at the plate.
- Kaitlyn Klepper recorded a hit and an RBI.
- Lily Kenney tossed a complete game, striking out seven while allowing three earned runs.
How it Happened
- The Ravens once again struck first, using a pair of singles and a sacrifice fly to take the lead in the opening frame.
- Adelphi responded in the bottom of the first. Priest drew a walk, Wright advanced her with a sacrifice bunt, and Klepper blooped an RBI single down the right field line to tie the game.
- Franklin Pierce regained control in the fourth, scoring three runs on three hits—including an RBI double—along with a Panthers error.
- FPU added another run in the fifth on an RBI double, extending the lead to four.
- The Cats got runners on, via hits in both the fifth and seventh innings but were unable to generate additional offense, being held scoreless the rest of the way.
