#1 Men's Lacrosse Back in NCAA Semifinal with 12-5 Win Over #4 Pace

Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University men's lacrosse team finds itself back in the NCAA Division II Semifinal following a 12-5 victory over no. 4 Pace University on Wednesday at Motamed Field.

Series History:
  • The pair of teams have met 29 times since the 2006 season and seven times in the month of May alone.
  • Adelphi holds a 27-2 all-time record against the Setters, including a 3-0 mark in 2026. They have not lost to Pace since the 2017 season.
Highlights:
  • Braden Donnellan played his 10th game with five or more points. He posted a team-leading five with a pair of goals and trio of assists.
  • Long stick midfielder Carter Linkletter had two goals and added one assists while collecting six ground balls and causing two turnovers.
  • Christian Tomei finished the game with 15 saves, allowing just four goals, marking his seventh consecutive game of keeping opponents in single digit scoring.
How It Happened:
  • Michael Durnin got things going for Adelphi in the opening three minutes which Donnellan added onto about three minutes later. Pace managed to cut into the lead with an unassisted tally at 8:27 but, Durnin added one more before the frame expired to make it 3-1 Panthers.
  • Another pair of goals for the Cats stretched the advantage to four, as the hosts kept the lead and never looked back. It was a game of catch up for the Setters as two consecutive brought them within two, but a three-goal run for Adelphi kept the margin at five.
  • The Panther defense allowed just one strike for the Setters in the third and used a string of four goals to really put the game out of reach in the early going of the fourth.
Up Next:
  • Adelphi will host #3 Molloy University in the NCAA Division II Semifinal on Sunday, May 16. The cross-town battle will mark the second meeting this season for the Panthers and kick off at 1:00 p.m. on Motamed Field.
