Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

#14 Women's Lacrosse Unable to Hold Off #12 East Stroudsburg

East Stroudsburg, Pa. - In a lopsided affair, the no. 14 Adelphi University women's lacrosse team fell 9-24 to no. 12 East Stroudsburg on Saturday, at Whitenight Field.

Series History:
  • The teams have met seven times, with the Panthers (0-4) maintaining a 4-3 advantage in the all-times series.
  • Today's loss stands as the largest margin of defeat and the Cats offense was held below their average scoring against the Warriors.
Highlights: How It Happened:
  • After Sefransky scored the game's opening goal, the Warriors (5-0) strung together three straight to gain a lead they never relinquished. Sefransky scored another to cut the host advantage to one, but it remained a game of catch-up, as Kolomechuk's goal at 7:32 still saw Adelphi down a goal.
  • East Stroudsburg won the next six draw control attempts, and added to their score every single time, resulting in a 9-3 edge for the hosts following the first quarter.
  • The Warriors did not slow their offensive pressure, scoring on each shot they took in the second, with only one added to the Adelphi side of the board, courtesy of a converted free position attempt from Foppiano.
  • With a 13-goal deficit ahead of them, Adelphi turned the third into a positive frame, outscoring the home team 3-2, but still faced an uphill battle with the final 15 minutes to play.
  • The Panthers were plagued with turnovers in the second half and as a result, still struggled to decrease the margin in the last quarter.
  • ESU held the advantage in draw controls, 20-11 and finished the afternoon perfect in clears.
Up Next:
  • Adelphi will kick off the Northeast 10 Conference slate on Saturday, March 15 at Bentley University. Opening draw is set for noon.
