Kolomechuk Scores Seven in Women's Lax 23-2 Victory Over AIC

Springfield, Mass. - For the first time since 2022, the Adelphi University women's lacrosse team scored 23 points en route to a conference victory over American International on Friday night at Ronald J. Abdow Field.

Series History:
  • Adelphi extends its win streak over the Yellow Jackets to 21 straight victories since 2003. The last six matchuips have seen the Panthers score 20 or more goals, with a record 25 in 2010.
Highlights:
  • Ashley Kolomechuk led with a team-high nine points, courtesy of a season-best seven goals and a pair of assists. Seven goals matches her career-high set last March in an Adelphi win over Franklin Pierce.
  • After reaching the 200 career point threshold earlier this week, Alexandra Leggio added her to career totals, with seven assists in the win aiding her reaching 100 career assists.
  • Marielle Colalillo and Emma Mclam both accounted for a hat trick, with Colalillo also adding four helpers for a seven-point performance.
  • Rita Sefransky tallied a team-best 11 draw control wins, as Adelphi won 19 to AIC's eight.
How It Happened:
  • Following a pair of goals within the first two minutes of game action, the Panther offense continued its pressure, scoring eight more by the 6:18 mark. Running clock still saw three more goals before the quarter expired, giving the Cats a 13-0 advantage following the first frame.
  • Madison Nicolosi added the first goal of the second quarter with another trio following to make it 17-0 at the halftime break.
  • AIC's silence was broken at the start of the third when Gabrielle Walz netted the first second-half goal but Caitlin Becker, Kailyn Salony and Michaela Burke each added a score to make it 20-1 heading into the final 15 minutes of action.
  • Adelphi was near perfect in clears (going 7-for-7 in both the second and third quarters) to finish 38-for-40 for the contest, while the hosts were only succesful on 10 of 22 attempts.
  • The Yellow Jackets managed to sneak in their second goal in the final quarter but not before Adelphi added another three to their side of the board.
