How It Happened:
- The game got off to a fast start with Bentley holding a 12-7 lead at the under-16 minute timeout.
- The Falcons shot the lights out in the first half, going 20-for-30 from the floor and 5-for-9 from three-point range.
- Coming out of the four-minute media timeout, Adelphi had some life, and makes from Walton and Burke cut the lead to 10.
- Zakari McQueen made a three with nine seconds left to have Adelphi trailing by nine, but a buzzer-beater by Bentley put the score at 47-35 going into the break.
- Bentley's lead went back up to 16 early, but threes from Connor and Price cut the deficit to 10.
- Solid defense kept the Falcons' shooters at bay, and the Panthers slowly began to chip away at the lead.
- Adelphi struggled to get the lead under seven points, as seemingly every basket was answered by a Bentley make.
- The Brown and Gold finally caught a break, and a three-point play from Reece Brown put the home team within striking distance.
- Connor knocked down another three-pointer before the eight-minute timeout, and a Falcons shot clock violation had the CRS on its feet.
- Walton made two free throws on the next possession, and with 7:17 to play, the Panthers trailed by one.
- Bentley came right back with a make, a stop and a make to go back up six.
- In the final minutes, Walton willed the Panthers into the game, making tough shot after tough shot, but Bentley continued to lead.
- Trailing by five, Adelphi forced a turnover with 23 seconds remaining, and Walton knocked down a three to cut the lead to two.
- On the ensuing inbound, Bentley could not get the ball in, and a turnover gave the Panthers a chance to tie or win.
- The shot clanked off the back iron, and Adelphi was forced to foul.
- Bentley made both free throws and, although Patrick Burke was able to score before the buzzer, there was not enough time on the clock, and the Panthers fell, 80-76.
