North Attleboro, Mass. – The Northeast 10 Conference announced the winners of the annual Sports Excellence Award for the fall season on Wednesday afternoon, and Adelphi University had two Panthers honored. Both NE10 Players of the Year, field hockey's Lana Mignon De Wet and volleyball's Macarty McQueen, were recognized for their accomplishments in both the classroom and on the field of play.

Among the student-athletes who were named to the NE10 All-Academic Team, the Sport Excellence Award is given to one top individual from each of the league's seven fall sports. This is the third year in a row that a Panther has won the award for volleyball and the first time a Panther has won for field hockey since 2021.

Boasting a 3.87 grade-point average in the fall while pursuing her degree in health sciences, Mignon De Wet posted one of the best single seasons in the field hockey program's history.

The Pretoria, South Africa native scored 23 goals and tallied 51 points while being recognized as the NE10 Player of the Year, a NFHCA and Synapse Sports First Team All-American, as well as the NFHCA Regional Player of the Year. She was also named to the NFHCA Regional and NE10 First Teams.

McQueen wrapped up her final season with a fantastic year, earning a 3.77 GPA in marketing while being awarded the NE10 Player of the Year.

Leading the conference in kills (443) and setting a new single-game record for kills in a game (29), McQueen received numerous AVCA honors, being named the East Region Player of the Year and an All-America Honorable Mention.

To be eligible for Academic All-Conference and Sport Excellence honors, a student-athlete must have started at least half or played in two-thirds of all contests while making significant contributions and maintaining a 3.3 grade-point average on a 4.0 scale.
