Worcester, Mass. - With it's best finish since joining the. league in the 2009-10 season, the Adelphi University men's swimming and diving program made a splash over the weekend, placing second at the 2025 Northeast-10 Conference Championship.
Finishing with 878 points, the Panthers narrowly caught four-time defending champion Southern Connecticut State, who completed the four-peat with 912 points.
Along the way, Adelphi posted 26 podium finishes and 16 broken records. It was a near perfect sweep in the relay department as the men collected 12 gold medals, four of which came courtesy of fast relay swims.
For his efforts and individual point total of 60,
Ryan Kakimseit was named the NE10 Men's Swimmer of the Meet. His 200 backstroke time landed as an NCAA B-Cut time and he was part of the four gold medal relays.
Thursday Highlights:
- The men's 800 freestyle A relay improved their finish from a season ago where they took bronze, and posted a time of 6:49.50 to take second place. Two seconds faster than its seed time, Cooper Rivers, Tyler Thompson, Valerii Pidhoretskyy and Tristan Weingarten set a new Adelphi record. The previous record was set in 2010 at the ECAC Championship by Tom Eickelberg, Cozzi, Corey McKee, and Zachary Terzano (6:59.65).
- The men's 800 freestyle B relay took first in its heat, clocking in at 7:02.37.
- Connor Singer took first in the second heat of the men's 1000 freestyle - he finished in 10:08.70, which is just over three seconds off of Adelphi's record and a new personal best in the specialty.

- Adelphi started the night on a strong note, finishing first in the 200 Free Relay in a time of 1:22.46 by Valerii Pidhoretskyy, Ryan Kakimseit, Eric Slavin and Tristan Weingarten. In the 500 Free, Weingarten captured more gold with a swim of 4:36.43.
- In the final men's race of the night, Adelphi won the 400 Medley Relay behind a record-setting effort from Kakimseit - who swam the opening leg in a time of 49.06. The mark broke his previous Championship and Open record of 49.26.
Saturday Highlights:
- Kakimseit tallied three gold medals on Saturday night - including successfully defending his titles in the 100 Fly and 100 Back from a year ago - to help put Adelphi in the lead. He swam the 100 Fly in 49.27 and the 100 Back in 49.60.
- Adelphi grabbed a pair of other first-place finishes from Connor Singer in the 100 Breast with a time of 55.69 and its 200 Medley Relay with a time of 1:30.93. Kakimseit and Singer swam the opening two legs of the race.
Sunday Highlights:
- Adelphi was edged by eventual winner SCSU in the 200 butterfly – despite taking second and third (Tyler Thompson and Jake Chee-A-Tow), the Owls had four finishers in the A final. Luke Paragas contributed five points with his fourth place showing in the B final.
- Upchurch stunned in a second distance event, winning the 1650 by four seconds to the next finisher from Bentley. His time of 16:12.43 is a new program record – one that's been on the board since 2010.
