Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women's Hoops Hangs On For Narrow Victory at Pace

Pleasantville, N.Y. - Following an eight-point lead at the half, the Adelphi University women's basketball team held on for a 54-47 victory over Pace University on Saturday, as the teams met in non-conference action.

Series History:
  • Saturday's non-conference conference contest was the 38th meeting for the pair since the 2003 season.
  • With the win, Adelphi stopped a nine-game win streak for the Setters, and are now 1-9 over the last 10 matchups.
  • The two teams will play each other on two more occasions in the regular season, with the home and away counting towards the overall Northeast 10 conference record for the 2025-26 season.
Highlights:
  • Madison Williams came off the bench to deliver a 14 point performance, courtesy of a 4-for-8 shooting and a perfect 4-4 clip at the free throw line.
  • Victoria Morales registered her fifth straight game with double-digit points, scoring 11 on 4-for-9 shooting from the floor.
  • Defensively, Lauren Beberman led all players with 10 rebounds and added an impressive seven steals and four blocks. This marks her fourth game this season with three or more blocks.
How It Happened:
  • The Brown and Gold shot just slightly better than their opponent in the opening quarter to hold on to a narrow 13-8 advantage after the first 10 minutes of action.
  • After several attempts at the basket, Me'Challe Cancer finally saw her layup go in to extend the visiting team's lead to it's largest at 11, with 3:53 left in the second quarter.
  • The second half was completely even in scoring as the pair put up 13 and 16 points in the third and fourth quarters, respectively.
  • The Panthers capitalized on the Setter miscues, scoring 24 points off the same amount of turnovers in the game.
Hear from Coach Jackson:
  • "I thought on the defensive end we were very solid today. Our defense is our identity, and when shots aren't falling consistently we know that defense is the one thing that cannot waiver. I'm proud of how our team kept our focus on the defensive end of the floor."
Up Next:
  • Adelphi will close out the 2025 schedule with a non-conference bout at Molloy University on Wednesday, Dec. 17. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m.. The originally scheduled Dec. 20 matchup with Post University has been cancelled and will not be made up.
