Men's Soccer Takes Care of Pace, Will Host to SCSU in NE10 Quarterfinal

Pleasantville, N.Y. — The Adelphi men's soccer team was back in action on Wednesday night for its regular-season finale at Pace.

The Panthers got off to a hot start, recording three shots in the first ten minutes of the game. It was the fourth shot that proved fruitful for head coach Gary Book's squad, as a wide pass from Jad Abbas found the feet of Arik Landau, who buried a shot past the Setters' goalkeeper for a 1–0 lead.

Pace responded quickly, countering with chances of its own, but Santiago Arango kept the attack at bay and the ball out of the net.

Minutes later, Adelphi found itself in a favorable position when Pace committed a foul inside the box. Ryan Holt stepped up to the penalty spot and scored the sixth goal of his freshman season with a rocket to the bottom-left corner.

The Setters tried to respond but could not get their offense going, as the Brown and Gold took a 2–0 lead into the break.

In the second half, the Panthers continued to control the tempo. They found their third goal of the game in the 72nd minute when Peter Angelis ripped an off-balance shot into the top corner for the first goal of his career.

In the 79th minute, goalkeeper Harry Thompson entered to make his collegiate debut, closing out the match in net.

A 3–0 deficit proved too much for Pace to overcome, and Adelphi took home the win.

With the victory, the Panthers earned the No. 4 seed in the NE10 Championship and will host Southern Connecticut State in the quarterfinal on Saturday at 6:00 PM
