Howell, N.J. — Over the weekend, the Adelphi bowling team competing in the Garden State Classic, facing some top competition from around the region.
The Panthers earned four wins on day one during Baker play, taking down No. 22 Felician, local rivals Molloy and LIU as well as Bowie State.
On day two during traditional play, Adelphi faced tougher compeitiion and was only able to pick up one win, a 831-692 victory over Holy Family.
In the position round, head coach
Arthur O'Connor's squad took down Dominican (NY) 4-2 in team Baker play to earn a seventh place finish.
Carly Wu and
Marissa Funk were the team's top finishers, both bowling an average of 183. Wu was consistent with three games over 185 while Funk had a high of 236 and was the team's best strike thrower, earning a 50% strike rate in traditional play and a 46.2% in Baker.
Erica DeJesus had a team-high game of 252 in the team's match against Morgan State, which bumped her average on the weekend up to 181.
Tiffany Wong (174.83 average) and
Giana Giampapa (163.6 average) rounding out the top finishes for the Panthers. Giampapa was the team's best single pin spare converter, recording a 95% pickup rate in Baker games and a 92.2% in traditional.
The Panthers will be back in action on Friday, Jan. 16, when they compete at the Northeast Classic in New Castle, Del.
