Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

McQueen Knocks Down Seven Threes as Men's Basketball Beats SCSU, 93-72

New Haven, Conn. – The Adelphi men's basketball team earned their third straight win of the young 2025-26 season, with a 93-72 non-conference victory over Southern Connecticut State

Series History:

  • Adelphi moves to 12-19 all-time against SCSU, dating all the way back to 2009, winning the last four out of five matchups.

Highlights:

  • Zakari McQueen was absolutely on fire, leading the game with 25 points. The transfer from Goldey-Beacom shot 9-14 from the floor and was an impressive 7-10 from three.

  • Patrick Burke scored a career-high 15 points while shooting 70% and led Adelphi with eight boards, narrowly missing a double-double.

  • Al-Fatir Connor was the Panthers' leading assist man with six. He also poured in 18 points on 7-10 shooting and was a perfect 4-4 from the line.

  • The Cats saw five different players, including the three mentioned above, score double digits as Mason Jackson and Dayshaun Walton each scored 12.

How It Happened:

  • Adelphi (3-0) dominated the first half once again, as they shot 57.7% as a team and held the Owls to just 27 points. The Panthers shot even better in the second half, at a 59.3% clip to bring their game total to 58.5%

  • The Panthers held a 28-22 rebounding edge, but really made SCSU from the three point line, shooting 14.3% better from three than the home team.

  • Like the Queens and Molloy had tried in the previous two games, the Owls attempted a late rally but the lead Adelphi had accumulated was too large.

  • The Panthers led by as many as 28 with 1:44 remaining but SCSU ended the game on a 7-0 run.

Up Next:

  • The Panthers will be back in action on Saturday, Nov. 22, when they continue their early season road-trip at the College of Staten Island. Tip is set for 3:30 p.m.
