Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University volleyball team returns to the semifinal round of the Northeast 10 Conference tournament after defeating no. 7 Franklin Pierce University on Tuesday evening, in what could be the final home game of the 2025 season.
After a tough opening set, which saw the Ravens (8-16, 4-5 NE10) take the Panthers to 25-21, the home team turned it around to sweep the quarterfinal matchup inside the Center for Recreation and Sports.
Leading the Cats was
Macarty McQueen, who totaled 11 kills and six digs as
Elena Covic also reached double-figures with 10 kills of her own.
Ana Carolina Westerich - who reached the 1,000 assist milestone over the weekend - added another 28 assists as teammate
Autumn Moore picked up 11 herself.
Adelphi managed four service aces in the second set and saw the offense hit .400 at a unit, with 16 kills and four errors. The home team was trailing until
Sarah Munn took to the service line, as she brought it back to eight-all. A pair of Raven miscues put Adelphi in the drivers' seat, and a six-point swing all but saw the hosts take a 2-0 lead in the match.
McQueen tallied another six kills in the eventual third set as the Brown and Gold rattled off 12 kills with two errors for another .400 hitting percentage as a team.
The Panthers will take on American International in the NE10 Semifinals scheduled for Friday, November 21 at 7:30 p.m.. The remaining rounds of the tournament will be held inside the Dana Center at Bentley University.
