Rome, Ga. — After capturing their second ITA East Region Doubles title, which was also Adelphi's second all time, the duo of
Katarina Liedbeck and
Roisin Boyd made their third trip to the nationally recognized ITA Cup.
The ITA Cup pits the country's best singles and doubles players against one another at the Rome Tennis Center in order to crown an ITA national champion.
Adelphi's top pair faced off with Kristyna Hranacova and Katja Markus of Nova Southeastern. Liedbeck and Boyd battled, but they would fall to the evental cup champions, 2-6, 2-6.
In the consolation bracket, the Panthers bounced back in a match against Azusa Pacific. Liedbeck and Boyd lost the first set 4-6 but came back to take the second second 7(7)-6(3) and send the match to a third set tiebreak. The Cats pushed Azusa Pacific to the brink and pulled off a clutch 10-8 victory to secure their first win of the weekend.
Liedbeck, Boyd and the Adelphi women's tennis team return to action on Thursday when they travel to take on Bentley in conference play at 3:00 pm.
