Volleyball Drops Doubleheader to Saint Leo/Eckerd

St. Petersburg, Fla. - Adelphi University volleyball slid to 0-3 in 2024 following two consecutive losses on Friday as part of the Eckerd College Invitational. 

The first match of the day went to five sets with Saint Leo University, but the Lions ultimately stole a 15-12 deciding frame to take the victory. In the night cap, Adelphi earned the opening set win, but dropped the next three to the hosting Tritons to fall in four. 

Game One: Saint Leo 3, Adelphi 2 (25-19, 17-25, 25-14, 17-25, 15-12)
Kalena Ricketts was the team's leader in kills in the five-set thriller, picking up 10 for a new career-high in her first season with the Panthers. Kambel Fiser added 30 assists, bringing her weekend total up to 57 after the first two games of the year. 

Game Two: Eckerd 3, Adelphi 1 (19-25, 25-18, 25-19, 25-19)
Noelle Alberda and Emilia Cascapera both reached double-digit kills in the loss, accounting for 14 and 10, respectively. Fiser continued to pace the offense, collecting 36 assists. Jaydin Nowak, who has donned the libero jersey for the first three matches of the season has notched double-digit digs in each game, accumulating 44, with one contest remaining in the tournament.

Adelphi will wrap up its southern tour on Saturday morning when they take on Emory & Henry at 9:30 a.m.. The Wasps also picked up losses to no. 4 Wayne State and hosts Eckerd College heading into the weekend.
