Flushing, N.Y. - On Thursday, the Adelphi University women's tennis team lost 7-0 at the hands of Queens College in a non-conference tilt at the QC Tennis Bubble in Flushing.
In a showdown between two nationally-ranked teams, the No. 26 ranked Knights (12-3) had the upper hand on the No. 50 ranked Panthers (11-4).
A potential NCAA Tournament preview, the 'Cats played shorthanded, giving Queens the significant edge it needed.
While
Katarina Liedbeck and
Roisin Boyd won 6-4 at the No. 1 flight,
Astrid Bergh and
Caterina Federici's 6-4 defeat in second doubles cemented the opening point for the Knights.
The Brown and Gold unfortunately fared no better in singles competition. All five competing Panthers lost their matches in straight sets.
Boyd came up short against Queens' Maja Makal at No. 2 singles, falling 6-1, 7-5. Bergh put forth a hard fight in a 6-4, 7-5 loss to Caroline Hany-Fawzy at No. 3 singles.
