Women's Tennis Resumes Spring Schedule With 7-0 Loss at Queens

Flushing, N.Y. - On Thursday, the Adelphi University women's tennis team lost 7-0 at the hands of Queens College in a non-conference tilt at the QC Tennis Bubble in Flushing.

In a showdown between two nationally-ranked teams, the No. 26 ranked Knights (12-3) had the upper hand on the No. 50 ranked Panthers (11-4).

A potential NCAA Tournament preview, the 'Cats played shorthanded, giving Queens the significant edge it needed.

While Katarina Liedbeck and Roisin Boyd won 6-4 at the No. 1 flight, Astrid Bergh and Caterina Federici's 6-4 defeat in second doubles cemented the opening point for the Knights.

The Brown and Gold unfortunately fared no better in singles competition. All five competing Panthers lost their matches in straight sets.

Boyd came up short against Queens' Maja Makal at No. 2 singles, falling 6-1, 7-5. Bergh put forth a hard fight in a 6-4, 7-5 loss to Caroline Hany-Fawzy at No. 3 singles.

Head Coach Rebecca Fakas and her Adelphi squad wrap up their spring schedule this Monday (Apr. 15) in Wilmington, Del. at 1 p.m. at Wilmington University.
