Albany, N.Y. - In one of its lowest-scoring games this season, the Adelphi University women's basketball team fell to NE10 rival The College of Saint Rose, 58-48, on Wednesday night at Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium.
It was the final regular-season meeting between the two teams, with Saint Rose set to close its doors at the conclusion of the 2023-24 academic year.
As the Panthers (6-20, 4-16 NE10) were held scoreless over the game's first 4:27, the Golden Knights (19-5, 15-5 NE10) jumped out to a 12-5 lead through one quarter of play.
The 'Cats generated most of their chances the following period, when an 8-0 run -- capped by a pair of
Jenna Jordan lay-ups -- to open the second quarter got the Brown and Gold out to their only lead of the contest at 15-14.
The lead was only short-lived though, as Saint Rose's Syrita Faraj -- following a timeout -- sunk the go-ahead lay-up with 3:31 left before the break.
Adelphi was still within striking distance of Saint Rose coming out of halftime, but a 19-5 third-quarter performance by the hosts kept the 'Cats away for good.
Graduate forward
Jenna Jordan dropped her sixth 20-point game of the season, while
Kaitlyn O'Connell also finished in double figures with 13 points.
Victoria Morgan added nine points off the bench, and
Rolanda Robinson collected 10 rebounds off the glass.
Head Coach
Sade Jackson and the Panthers will pay tribute to their graduating seniors this Saturday (Feb. 24), prior to a 1:30 p.m. tip-off against Saint Michael's College at the Center for Recreation and Sport.
