Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Tucker's Nine Points Lead Men's Lacrosse to 19-8 Win Over GCU

Garden City, N.Y. - Logan Tucker and Eamon Hall combined for 15 points in the Adelphi men's lacrosse season opener, where they took down Georgian Court 19-8 on Wednesday evening.

Hall tallied a career-high five goals while Tucker set the table six times as Brian Harinski and Ryan Bauco each contributed a pair of goals in the win. Ryan Durnin picked up three caused turnovers and three ground balls as netminder Dylan Renner stopped 12 shots from the Lion attack.

The Panthers (1-0) put four goals on the scoreboard before Georgian Court broke the silence at 6:08 in the opening quarter. Before the frame was through, the home team added three more scores to their side of the board which carried into the second to cap a six-goal slide. In that stretch, Bauco scored his first collegiate goal - a man-up tally courtesy of a pass from Harinski, to make it 9-1.

After the Lions found their second strike in as many quarters, Adelphi managed to tack on three more to lead by 10 at the halftime break.

Keeping the pressure on, even the long poles got in on the scoring brigade after a faceoff scramble saw Aidan Fitzgerald pick up the ball and find the back of the net to make it a 15-2 contest. Stephen Bayer and Braden Donnellan teamed up for the final tally of the third quarter as the hosts put the Lions in a 14-goal deficit.

It wasn't until late that Georgian Court found their stride, outscoring the Cats 5-2 in the last frame, which included the final four goals of the contest. The last two Adelphi goals will go in the books as collegiate firsts, one for Michael Durnin and the other for Danny Fisenne, as the home team closed out a 19-8 victory.

Adelphi will head south this weekend for a bout with the preseason and current no. 1 team in Division II, Lenoir Rhyne. The Bears have opened the season with four straight wins including back to back wins against top-10 opponents.
