Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Dayshaun Walton Scores 22, Guides Men’s Hoops Past Undefeated Chaminade

Honolulu, Hawaii — Head coach Dave Duke and the Adelphi men's basketball team wrapped up their trip to Hawaii on Sunday night when they took on Chaminade.

The Panthers tallied the first bucket of the game when Mason Jackson made a layup just 15 seconds in. The Silverswords responded and the game went back and forth for the next few minutes.

Adelphi held the lead for most of the half, leading by as much as five on a Patrick Burke dunk but Chaminade continued to battle. The see-saw half resulted in a one point Panther lead after a three pointer by Andres Fulgencio at the buzzer.

A sea of substitutions at the beginning of the second stanza saw the Silverswords jump out to a three point less than five minutes in.

The game continued to be tightly contested but baskets by Dayshaun Walton, Tavin Pierre Philippe and Nuha Sagnia kept the 'Cats ahead.

Chaminade hit a scoring drought and made shots from Al-Fatir Connor and Matthew Price saw Adelphi's lead grow to 10.

Walton was money from the line, hitting all 10 of his free throws in the contest. Jarnel Rancy hit a clutch jumper in the paint with under a minute remaining as Adelphi won the game in a tight one, 86-85.

Walton scored a season-high 22 points in the game while Fulgencio scored 15.

Sagnia led the 'Cats with six boards and Connor had a team-high four assists.

The Panthers will return to the court on Wednesday when they return to conference play as they travel to Franklin Pierce at 7:30 p.m.
