Mansfield, Mass. — The Adelphi women's tennis team learned on Sunday night that it will be receiving the No. 2 overall seed in this week's Northeast-10 championship.
The 'Cats finished the season with a 7-1 overall and conference record, with their only loss coming to the undefeated No. 1 seed New Haven. In their seven victories this season, Adelphi only dropped seven points and had three total shutouts that came against Bentley, American International and Saint Michael's.
The Panthers will be looking to repeat as champions for the first time since 2018. The No. 2 overall seed gives them a bye into the semifinals, where they will host the winner of No. 3 Assumption and No. 6 Bentley on Friday.
Adelphi's starters this season have been superb. Led by their number one, Katarina Liedbeck, she amassed a singles record of 6-2 in singles play and 7-1 in doubles while playing with Roisin Boyd and Zuzanna Witkowska.
New comer Witkowska has been a revelation for the Brown and Gold, as she went an undefeated 8-0 in singles play and dropped only one doubles match with a 7-1 record.
Boyd backed up her stellar freshman season with another impressive year, finishing 7-1 in singles play.
Freshmen Sarah Lindeman and Genesis Beltran have fortified the back end for the Panthers, combining for a 12-4 singles record and recording a 6-2 doubles record together as the number three pairing.
The NE10 champion will be crowned on Sunday, Oct. 20 with the highest remaining seed playing host.
