Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Threes Rain in Men's Hoops' 103-76 Victory Over Franklin Pierce

Garden City, N.Y. - For the second time this season, the Adelphi University men's basketball team racked up 13 three-pointers, helping secure a 103-76 victory over Franklin Pierce on Wednesday.

Earning their sixth consecutive win this season, the Panthers (10-4, 6-2 NE10) shot 55 percent from the field for the game and out-rebounded their opponent 41-27. Adelphi's bench poured in 47 points, led by rookie Seth Brown who's six three pointers in 23 minutes helped him score 22 points.

Adelphi had a double-digit lead just over five minutes into the opening half when Elijah Lewis pulled up for a jumper to make it 18-7. Brown's first triple sparked an 11-4 run that was also capped by the California native from beyond the arc to extend the host advantage to 16.

Dayshaun Walton found Brown for his fourth trey of the frame giving Adelphi it's largest lead of the half at 20. Somewhat stunned by the offensive pressure, the Ravens made 11 baskets with four three pointers in the opener. A high point for the visitors, they completed a nearly perfect stretch at the free throw line, landing nine of 10 attempts, while Adelphi only saw Walton go to the line to finish a three-point play.

Franklin Pierce came out of the break and scored the first five points, but the damage had already been done as they could not find a way to cut their deficit even to single digits for the remainder of the contest. Even with 50 percent shooting from the field, Adelphi pulled down 10 more rebounds than the visitors and shared the ball well, dishing out 15 assists in just the second half. Both Brown and Mason Jackson were responsible for a team-leading 10 points with a combined 8-for-10 effort from the floor.

Five total players for the Cats reached double-digit scoring as Walton and Elijah Lewis accounted for 15 and 17, respectively. Nearly locking in a triple-double in the century-mark win, Andrew Delaney had 11 points, 14 rebounds and eight assists on the night.

Looking to extend its streak, the Panthers will remain at home for their next contest when they welcome the College of Saint Rose on Saturday, Jan. 13 for a 3:30 p.m. tip-off.
