Garden City, N.Y. - Netting another sweep under its belt, the Adelphi University volleyball team wasted no time in grabbing its second home win of the season of the 2023 season, defeating Bloomfield College in straight sets.
Juniors
Noelle Alberda and
Delaney Kiendra were the stars of the night, combining for 28 kills on 48 total attacks for a .584 clip. Alberda's 16 kills were also good enough for a new career-high.
The Brown and Gold set the tone early, getting out to a dominating 10-2 lead at the start of the first set. After swiftly taking that one 25-9, the second set was more tightly-contested. Despite a combined 13 errors from the visitors, a service ace from Nathaly Flores cut the deficit to just 23-20. Following another kill from Kiendra, an attack error from Flores ended the set in favor of the hosts, 25-20.
The Panthers locked in for the final set, serving up 18 kills, to go along with three service aces and a .389 attack percentage to lock it up, 25-13.
Jamaya Harris led the Brown and Gold with 11 digs, followed by
Brenna Valsted's eight. Valsted also paced the team in assists with 29, and
Kambel Fiser finished with 11.
Head Coach
Danielle MacKnight and the Panthers continue their homestand next Friday with the 2023 Adelphi Volleyball Tournament. The Panthers are set to square off with Wilmington University first, with first serve set for 12 noon.
