Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University volleyball team's winning streak hit six on Thursday night with a 3-0 sweep of visiting Caldwell University.
Adelphi (10-4) stayed perfect against regional foes this year behind a comprehensive offensive performance. where the team as a whole hit .320. That included a .371 performance in the first set and a .469 performance in the third set.
Adelphi's offense was evenly paced for the match, led by eight kills from
Anna Oden, and nearly tripled Caldwell's offense output with 46 kills to 17.
Samantha Meehan chipped in seven, while
Sofia Pinzon,
Lilyen McCarthy and
Noelle Alberda all chipped in six.
Kambel Fiser paced the offense with 39 assists, while
Jamie Yonker paced the defense with 16 digs.
As a team, Adelphi logged eight aces to Caldwell's zero, and out-blocked the Cougars seven to four.
Adelphi led Caldwell (1-9) nearly wire-to-wire in all three sets, as the Cougars hit negatively in the first two sets and even in the third. In the opener, Adelphi led by as much as six twice, with the same margin in the second set after the Panthers won the first five points even though the score was briefly tied at 11-11.
In the third set, Adelphi won nine straight points to wrap up the match, in a stretch where Oden recorded three of her kills for the contest overall.
Adelphi is back in action on Saturday when it faces NE10 and regional powerhouse AIC at 1 p.m. for its Pride Awareness Match.
