Flushing, N.Y. - On Thursday, the Adelphi University men's tennis team suffered a 7-0 setback at the hands of Queens College at the QC Tennis Bubble in Flushing.
The loss dips the Panthers to 4-5 on the season, while the Knights now stand at 5-2 overall.
Although
Thomas Horsley and
Thiago Negrao won 7-6 (7-5) at the No. 2 flight, Queens had already been awarded the team doubles point by then.
In singles,
Marko Jovanovic and
Hugo Munoz Reinoso both duked out 10-point tiebreakers against their opponents.
Jovanovic fell 5-7, 6-4, 5-10 at the No. 1 flight. Despite winning his opening set, Reinoso dropped a 6-4, 5-7, 7-10 decision at second singles.
Gabriel Balestero,
Salomon Arce Lema,
Viktor Hockl and
Reece Farrow all played close matches, but lost in straight sets.
Adelphi travels to Saint Michael's College to open its NE10 schedule on Saturday (Mar. 11) at 11 a.m. in Colchester, Vt.
