Lantana, Fla. - On Tuesday, the Adelphi University baseball team made it three consecutive wins with a 15-7 victory over Alliance University at the Santaluces Sports Complex in Lantana.
The longest winning streak thus far for the 'Cats has the Panthers sitting at 7-6 overall. In the team's last three games alone, Adelphi has pushed across sixty runs.
Another error-ridden game by the opposition allowed the Panthers to pounce. Seven of their fifteen runs on the afternoon came as a result of an error.
But first, Adelphi had two early deficits to overcome. Alliance jumped out to 4-0 and 6-4 leads against
Gavin Graff, before the Brown and Gold responded each time.
Sophomore shortstop
Jack Wishner provided the game-tying RBI single in the first, and drove the go-ahead two-RBI double that broke a 6-6 tie in the third inning.
Graduate outfielder
Kyle Olson continued his stellar Florida trip with a pair of RBI knocks, including a third-inning RBI single that followed Wishner's key hit.
Sophiomore
Zach Rovner came on in relief of Graff and pitched five sparkling innings of three-hit, three-walk, two-strikeout ball for his first collegiate victory.
The Panthers have a 7 p.m. re-match with Alliance tomorrow (Mar. 15), but will first face familiar foe University of New Haven in a tune-up ahead of their upcoming four-game series at 11 a.m. in Boca Raton, Fla.
