Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Offensive Outburst Propels #4 Men's Lacrosse to 24-4 Victory at GCU

Lakewood, NJ - Behind the effort of 14 different goal scorers, the no. 4 Adelphi University men's lacrosse team continued its season opening win streak with a 24-4 defeat of Georgian Court University on Wednesday afternoon.

Three different players landed hat tricks in the win, including Cameron Logan, Brian Harinski and Kyle Steinbach

It was a tale of two games, as the opening five minutes of action did not reflect what happened over the ensuing 55 of regulation. The home team managed to jump out to a 3-1 lead after scoring the first goal of the contest just 30 seconds after the opening faceoff. Logan Tucker was responsible for the equalizer at 10:14, which brought the game to an even three-all.

From that moment on it was all Adelphi (3-0), as they rattled off their next 16 goals, spanning the next two quarters. Georgian Court was held scoreless for over 40 minutes, until breaking the silence at 14:29 in the fourth, for what eventually stood as their final goal of the non-conference matchup.

Despite a 14-17 effort in clears from the home team, the Lions were plagued with turnovers, committing seven in two different quarters, en route to 24 for the contest. On the defensive side of the field, the Panthers only forced six of those turnovers, with reigning Northeast-10 Conference defensive player of the week Ryan Butler leading the way with three.

Adelphi saw three different netminders between the pipes, with Dylan Renner getting the win with four saves, Kyle Cash recording two and Billy Smithwick holding down the final seven minutes of play, with zero shots faced.

Scoring for the first time in a Panther uniform, Joe Kiesche, Jack Reiser, and Kyle Lewis all found the back of the cage against the Lions (1-3). Lewis ultimately ended with a pair of tallies and one assist for three points on the afternoon.

No. 4 Adelphi will host American International College on Saturday, March 4. At present, game time is set for 2:00 p.m. but may be altered due to weather. Please follow the team on social media and visit aupanthers.com for the most up-to-date information.
