NE10 Reveals 2023 Swim & Dive Pre-Championship Polls

Mansfield, Mass. - Championship season is finally here for winter sports, kicking off on Thursday with the 2023 Northeast-10 Swimming and Diving Championship, hosted again at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. 

Ahead of the event, the league office has announced its pre-championship polls, revealing the Adelphi University men's program at no. 4 and the women tied for sixth. Full poll results are below. 

"I'm looking forward to some fast swims at our conference championship meet," said second year head coach Marc Danin.  "This season's training seems more cohesive compared to last year, after I only started mid-October and we were still dealing with covid disruptions." 

Danin's men's squad is seeded first in five different individual events, and the 400 medley squad of Connor Singer, Cooper Rivers, Brian Klotsche and Daniel Dalrymple swam the top time in among NE10 competition this season at 3:28.52.

Rivers tops the field heading into NE10s in both the 100 and 200 freestyle races as well as the 200 individual medley. This season alone, he broke Adelphi records in the 400 IM and was part of the 200 and 400 relays that also set new marks. In his rookie campaign, he earned a spot on the podium in three different individual events as ell as the 800 relay placing third, all en route to being named NE10 men's rookie of the year. 

Also heading into championships with top-times is first year Connor Singer, who put up best numbers in the 100 and 200 breaststroke while also breaking twice the former mark. He swam the breaststroke leg of the 400 medley relay that sits atop the league. 

Other men appearing in the top-five in times from this season are Timothy Yeung (3rd- 1650 freestyle) and Klotsche, in four different events.  

Returning medal winner from the women's side is Skyler Nenadich, who placed second and third in the three and one-meter events, respectively. The Bayside, NY product is a two-time NCAA qualifier in her career ahead of her final NE10 championship. 

Rookie Emily Munayirji has recorded top-10 swims in the conference throughout her first season including a 1:06.36 in the 100 individual medley, which is good enough to rank her third in the NE10. 

"Our swimmers have trained so well and with our intense seven days of double-long course practices training in Puerto Rico, I am more than excited to see how our athletes perform at this years championship event."
