Women's Basketball Lags in Post-Holiday Return at Molloy, 62-48

Rockville Centre, N.Y. - The time off didn't come as an advantage to the Adelphi University women's basketball team, which fell 62-48 to local rival Molloy University in a non-conference affair Saturday afternoon at Quealy Gymnasium in Rockville Centre.

Coming off a two-week holiday lay-off, the Panthers (4-7) shot less than 30.0 percent from the field to snap a three-game winning streak.

Graduate forward Jenna Jordan continued her surge towards the 1,000-point milestone with a 19-point outing. Jordan now sits at 982 career points, as the team prepares to play four of its next five games at home.

Molloy (4-8) capitalized most in the second quarter, when a 17-8 difference (11-0 off eight Adelphi turnovers) before the half sent the Lions into the locker room with a 28-17 advantage.

A Rolanda Robinson three closed the gap to 28-22 in the opening moments of the second half, but Molloy's instant 15-2 response kept the Panthers at bay for the rest of the contest.

As Molloy outrebounded Adelphi 47-38 on the glass, Trinity Hudson led the way for the Lions with an impressive double-double of 18 points and 17 rebounds.

Aside from Jordan's 19-point day, Robinson contributed a line of 13 points, six rebounds and two assists. Isabella Asencio added eight points, five rebounds and five assists off the bench.

The calendar now flips to 2024 for the Panthers, who return to NE10 play on Wednesday (Jan. 4) with a 5:30 p.m. opening tip against Southern New Hampshire University at the Center for Recreation and Sport.
