Westlake, Ohio - After one of its most memorable fall seasons to-date, the Adelphi University Department of Athletics is among the Top 25 schools in Division II in the 2023-24 Learfield Directors' Cup Standings, the final fall rankings were released Thursday morning.
The Learfield Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and
USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish at the NCAA Championships.
Adelphi amassed an even 160.00 points through the fall, placing 23rd out of 155 total schools vying for the Division II trophy.
A historic Final Four appearance by the women's soccer team led to Adelphi's ascent. The Panthers received 83 of a possible 100 points, accounting for more than of half of Adelphi's total output in the fall.
The Panthers also crept up through the standings, after
Isabel Marsh and
Katherine Marsh earned bids to the NCAA Division II National Championships, and the volleyball team claimed the East Region's No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
Fellow NE10 schools Franklin Pierce and Southern New Hampshire -- both tied at No. 26 -- followed Adelphi in the standings, and Daemen (No. 39) and Roberts Wesleyan (No. 46) occupied spots in the Top 50 out of the ECC.
